During 2009 over 593,451 warrants of arrests were issued to the South Africa public for silly traffic offences, mainly for speeding. 
Many traffic fines issued since AARTO launched, have been reported to be flawed with common irregularities, thus causing many innocent people to receive invalid fines, summons and warrants of arrests. Many people have paid or for invalid fines and did not even know it.
Many of these cases would never be successfully prosecuted in court, if challenged. The Metro Police have profited on these invalid fines as most of the public just pay their fines in fear.

The “warrant of arrest has been served on you notice”  is sometimes sent either  by postal mail, e-mail or via phone calls by local municipal court clerks informing people they are wanted for arrest and that they should hand themselves over to the authorities.
