This is a business network. Please observe the following rules of use:
You may NOT:
1. use computers or network resources for personal use, including sending and receiving of personal e-mail and browsing of Internet sites not directly related to the execution of your responsibilities within the office;
2. introduce any data to the network, either by way of external media such as CD ROM or floppy disks or flash memory, or by downloading such data, or by receiving attachments to e-mails, without reasonably ensuring that such data is virus-free;
3. falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your identity; forge headers, MAC addresses or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any material transmitted through the network;
4. use computers to play or download games, music, videos or any other recreational material;
5. use computers to violate any applicable national or international law, or any regulations having the force of law;
6. interfere with or disrupt the network or its servers in any way, reconfigure the network settings, or tamper in any way with computer settings and configurations;
7. capture, copy, collect or store, data from other computers/data sources without their knowledge or consent;
8. make any attempt to access other computer's files or hard drives without the knowledge or consent of the computer user or owner of such data, or unless such data is deliberately made accessible;
9. install or delete installed software without the agreement of the network administrator. No unapproved or downloaded software may be used unless the integrity, continuity and full support of the product can be guaranteed. Software patches or updates may only be downloaded from officially supported vendors;
10. access, retrieve, print, store or distribute text or graphical information, which is beyond the bounds of generally accepted standards, values and ethics. This includes, for example, material that could be considered offensive or discriminatory; pornographic or otherwise obscene; defamatory or libellous or any other material that contains illegal content prohibited by law or regulation;
11. conduct any form of "hacking" or use malicious code to penetrate or attempt to penetrate other computers either internally or externally or to deliberately release viruses or other harmful programs.
The use of the business network and the Internet as a valuable tool and source of information is acknowledged; and the principles of business and academic freedom in access to and downloading of source data and contributing and exchanging information and opinion are incorporated into this Policy.
